SOUTH ISLAND RUMBLE

9 DAYS/ 10 NIGHTS

The SOUTH ISLAND RUMBLE ride is an awesome South Island adventure  with  55% dirt riding. This ride consists of 9 days of excellent riding, starting and finishing in Wellington, taking in some of the best back roads, tracks and river crossings on the South Island.

10 nights with overnights in Wellington, Hanmer Springs, Lake Brunner, Mount Somers, Kurow, Roxburgh, Alexandra and  Lake Tekapo, providing opportunity to look around some amazing New Zealand towns and enjoy the amazing views and local hospitality.

Experience a large range of riding conditions from breathtaking river crossings , riding through famous high country stations and passing through remote alpine areas such as Molesworth Station, Nevis Valley ,Old Dunstan Rd, Rainbow Station and Danseys Pass, you will definitely be in awe.

Riders will be met the day before the ride starts at Wellington airport/hotel and dropped-off the day that we arrive back in Wellington.

The ride has a variety of riding with tarseal, gravel roads, tracks and river/stream crossings to keep it exciting.

The Ride

Afternoon before - We will pick you up from the airport or meet you at our hotel for a introduction and handing over of your bike for the duration of our ride. We will all leave for the ferry terminal the next morning at the pre arranged time.

Day 1 - Wellington to Hanmer Springs.  Leaving Wellington we cross the Cook Strait on the ferry to Picton where we start our South Island travels down to Molesworth Station and into Hanmer Springs via Jollies Pass. This is a good introduction to South Island adventure riding. 236 KM-  70% Dirt

Day 2 - Hanmer Springs to Lake Brunner. We   head for the West Coast and work our way down to Lake Brunner while we explore some dirt roads. 245+KM - 50% Dirt

Day 3 - Lake Brunner to Tekapo. Tracking via  Arthur's Pass to marvel at the New Zealand landscape. 340KM - 5% Dirt

Day 4 - Tekapo to Alexandra.  We head south via some iconic dirt tracks with a few extra dirt options for those willing participants. 330KM - 80% Dirt

Day 5 - Alexandra to Roxburgh. This is a long day in the dirt starting with an amazing view from the Obelisk. The Nevis track, Piano Flats and Old Man Range are features of the day. 323KM - 60% Dirt

Day 6 - Roxburgh to Kurow. We start our day tracking via Lake Onslow and up through St Bathans and the Omarama Saddle. 270KM - 75% Dirt

Day 7 - Kurow to Mount Somer. Tracking via Hakataramea Valley and MacKenzie Pass we head for Mount Somer. 244KM - 50% Dirt

Day 8 - Mount Somer to Hanmer Springs. We head for Hanmer Springs via Lees Valley. 298KM - 10% Dirt

Day 9 - Hanmer Springs to Picton. Last but definitely not least. We travel north through Rainbow Station, one of our favourite tracks, to get to Picton where we will enjoy lunch before boarding the ferry to Wellington. On arrival to Wellington we will all ride to our final nights accommodation. 225KM - 50% Dirt

  • Motorcycle riding gear - The individual rider is responsible for having the appropriate rider safety gear including a appropriate helmet with visor or goggles, gloves, boots and clothing.​​

  • Meals - No meals are included in this ride. Each stop offers a variety of dining options. All meals are at individuals cost.​

  • Flights to and from Wellington.​

  • Personal Items​

  • Accommodation after our last night in Wellington
